i was waiting for a clay project to dry and i had some leftover clay so i made a cat.
it's my cat (jewel) who i no longer have...it is now painted, i'll take another picture or two. it lost the texture though, and it doesn't look as good. if i make another to paint, i'll make it smooth rather than textured...

would anyone buy a bust like this of their character/pet? how much would you be willing to pay?
i think it's about 4-5 inches tall.

Not bad! I really like the pose, it's expressive and much better than just a frontal bust.

LOOK AT THIS. Stop being so amazing. NO DON'T STOP.
Good heavens I'd love to have you sculpt my cat Mallory. She passed away in October. She was 19 years old ;__; Literally my best friend. How much would you charge for a tiny bust? Like a pendant? I'd love to have a necklace of her ;__;

;_______; omg, your poor kitty...;__________; have all my hugs, please :'(
i could do you something out of polymer clay and paint it, i wouldn't want to do something so small out of pottery clay. umm...not sure of prices...i would hate to make you pay though ;_;

Thank you so much darling ;___; -hugs and doesn't let go-

It's totally up to you, but, we could do like, a "pendant trade" if you'd like :} I make necklaces out of polymer clay..so we could do a trade!

Wow, so much expression comes through. I could almost say that every frame portrays a slightly different emotion. I do like the texture you initially gave it, Nice job.

Is that something you can create from a few photographs of said pet?

Definitely not just $20 -- that's way too cheap for a sculpture of this quality! I'd say about $60-$70, maybe.

lmao this is worth more than $20, really. Sculpting is hard work so i'd say 50-60 maybe

Oh my gosh this is gorgeous. I love the detail on this face! Amazing work as always. I never knew you should do sculptures.
Personally, I would pay around $50 for something like this. Don't charge only $20 - it probably will cost around that much for all that clay, painting, ad well as your time and labor. Possibly even more than $50, depending on the character and shipping cost. Man I wish I wasn't so poor. :(

I would DEFINITELY love to pay for a bust like this. Considering the quality, an unpainted one should be sold for $230-$405. I'd prefer unpainted. :3 I'm only saying prices based on my previous experiences with sculptures this size.

Yes. If you want to be successful in clay-sculpting business, you have to price your sculptures higher, or you'll fall into the pits with the amount of money supplies cost and the time you use doing it.

If you're going to sell small originals like this, you definitely SHOULD price it higher, around the price ranges I said. If you can copy them, like, molds and such, you could price them around $35-$80. The people suggesting only $20? I hate to say it, but they're morons who don't have enough money to spend on fine quality artwork. I hope that doesn't offend you. They're offering you what they have in their bank, not what they know the true value of it is.

no, thank you. really. i know people around here price things differently because this isn't "the real world" and most people here aren't professional/don't seek to do art as a career so they don't see art as being very valuable. and i'm not saying i'm a professional/my art is worth a ton, but i'm in college for art right now and it's a very big part of my life and i'm still very much growing and trying to progress and it's nice to hear opinions from people who truly appreciate art/aren't trying to downprice things so they can afford it.
i'm not really sure what i'm trying to say, i had a train of thought and then lost it and i'm sure everything i just said above is just a jumbled mess XD
i'm going to try to learn to make molds/do slipcasting, so maybe i could make reproductions of things. we'll see. clay is a medium that is really frustrating and trying for me, but i work with it frequently and i enjoy having tangible results to my efforts, so i would like to make more things like this.
really, thank you for your input on this. i appreciate it. art (and i don't just mean drawing little doggies and whatnot) is soon going to become my job (if things go the way i'm trying to get them to go) and it's a huge (if not entire) part of my life and it's not really a hobby anymore. i'd like to be professional. maybe some day, we'll see. :p
...do i use parentheses enough? haha.

This is adorable! I'd love to pictures of the finished version. :3

I'd buy one of these if I could but alas, I have no money. But, if I were, I'd price it at maybe...20 dollars? It all depends on how expensive the clay is and how much the paint is that you use. But yeah, at least 20 dollars.
